The Brouhaha with the ex-PM
Much has been written about the criticism of Dr M about the present government. Some claim it may harm Malaysia’s progress.
To me it is a good sign that a former national leader can be given so much space to air his views on a system that he commandeered and lorded over for 22 years. In fact by actively participating in the analysis of the nation’s current problems, he may provide the key to our future progress.
The revelation about PETRONAS’ profits or maybe it should be renamed the PM’s prerogative and how money was splashed in Putrajaya gives little comfort for Malaysians who have to worry about tomorrow’s meal. Yes we have wealth in oil but the wealth is not being used to empower the ordinary citizens to improve their existence.
Thus it is very good of the ex-PM to disclose all the imperfections of the present administration so that the Cabinet can take further actions to win back the trust of the people.
A Royal Commission on the ex-PM may be useful but looking at the way the government is stalling on the IPCMC, it could be a mere manoeuvre and waste of time and money.
All responsible citizens have a role to play in nation building. We simply cannot allow politicians to keep on pulling the wool over our eyes. Not in Washington, not in London and definitely not in Putrajaya.
