Why Pick on Chinese Overstayers?
Today's NST carried the story about the large numbers of visitors who overstayed.
However if you study the statistics provided by the Immigration Department, you can only come to the following conclusions:
1. The numbers are not reliable.
2. We have a very serious overstayers problem or
3. Both of the above.
I have the numbers extracted from the Immigration Department statistics on arrivals and departures.
The second table shows those countries with a large number of arrivals.
(Please click on table for an enlarged version)
One other possibility is that the accumulated "overstayers" are those on working permits but that does not explain the Singapore numbers of having so many who did not return.
If these numbers are reliable, Singapore should be a deserted island!

thanks rigel for the comments.
U are most welcome.
To me it is time to have a framework to disband all the racist parties so that we are all called Malaysians.
Agreed. We should only be called Malaysians, nothing else! This should be official policy and used in all transactions.
However, you may in everyday conversations describe one as an Indian Malaysian, Chinese Malaysian or Malay Malaysian.
Remember, you are describing a Malaysian and to call him Malaysian Chinese is wrong.
