Macbeth's Take on the New Cabinet
There are many comments on the latest Cabinet line-up and I think the following words by Macbeth on learning of his wife’s death are appropriate.
“There would have been a time for such a word.
To-morrow, and to-morrow, and to-morrow,
Creeps in this petty pace from day to day
To the last syllable of recorded time,
And all our yesterdays have lighted fools
The way to dusty death. Out, out, brief candle!
Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player
That struts and frets his hour upon the stage
And then is heard no more: it is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing.”

In a thousand years, literature students will still read these words but if we are not careful in choosing those who lead the nation, some people will only read of Malaysia in history books.

It happens that I did Macbeth for lit in the 60s and remember snippets.
WS was very good at writing about real life issues.
Macbeth? More like someone from Julius Caesar.
