More Decadent than Hollywood

Very often we condemn the West as being a decadent society, materialistic and not concerned about morals; especially with the high divorce rates and broken families.

However, just within one week we can read of equally decadent behaviour right here in Malaysia. Some people even consider these cases even more abhorrent than unfaithfulness especially as these people do profess a religion.

Should we blame the parents or the authorities for encouraging people to have more children than they can raise properly to become responsible citizens?

Man and stepdaughter fined for incest and illegitimate children.
Somehow the penalty imposed appears very light compared to the crime against a step-child who was 16 years old in the first incident. Her mother should also have been charged for not protecting her child by reporting her husband.
To me such men should be chemically castrated after the first incident.

There was a back-story on the same day about an older woman on sex related charges with a younger man and she received a more severe sentence then this man.

Then there is this case of a 14-year old being held for raping his classmate.
In the same article there are the two brothers who raped their 17-year-old sister.

No need to look to the West for decadent behaviour. We can compete with the worst of them.
