Three is a Crowd - Reforming the JPJ ?
I find the proposal to put two examiners in one car to reduce the chance of molest amusing.
If you have two like-minded examiners, you only increase the chance of a gang rape as shown in the news report of a teenager who was raped by her brothers.
The idea of having more women examiners is more sensible and perhaps the person being tested should be given the option to ask for a male or female tester.
Ladies taking tests should also dress appropriately. It’s better to be safe as you will be spending at least 30 minutes with a perfect stranger.
As Malaysia has a lot of women drivers, the JPJ should have a policy to recruit more women examiners. If there is a surplus of male examiners, they should be transferred to other departments like inspections.
Another safeguard would be to allow a person to accompany the student on the test. This person would have to observe strict silence but of course some people’s style would be really cramped with this practice.
JPJ can also make use of technology. Each test car can be fitted with an online cam recorder so that all improper actions by both the tester and the student can be recorded for future reference.
