A Touching Story but Why is the System Also Blind?
It is always heartening to hear of students who struggle hard to gain entrance into universities.
However this story indicates that our university entrance procedure needs to be fine-tuned so that people like Gomathi do not have to undergo the extra hassle to qualify.
Being blind, she must find it hard to cope with normal studies and so penalising her for not having any points for co-curricular activities seems to be rather callous of our university system.
Maybe the authorities are also blind to her difficulties. Let us hope that all certified handicapped students are automatically given the points for their handicap instead of having to earn co-curricular marks. This type of hardship case should not need a report except when the girl enters university or graduates. Thanks to NST for an inspiring story.
Such students can be an inspiration to normal people as it proves with true grit and determination; everyone can achieve success in life.
Congratulations Sumathi! I wish you a fulfilling career when you graduate.
