Then we had hooligans holding kris with blood on their hands.
Fast forward to a public forum
We have the Minister of Education making a speech with a gold-plated kris
Has there been any change of mind set?
What a terrible example for the students in our schools given the many cases of bullying and even some tragic deaths.
All Malaysians expect the Education Minister to show a good example and not display such aggressive behaviour. Maybe he should be transferred to the Ministry of Defence where it is OK to scare off pirates, etc.
A more appropriate prop for this speech would be been giving a small package to some members of the audience.
Then at the correct moment, ask them to unwrap the package and say,
"This is the reason why the NEP has failed all of us. The answer is in your mirror."

I am sure he is now aware that this gesture did not go well with other Malaysians?
But did he bother to explain his real intention and ease people's perception?
When you are a public figure, you cannot simply do as you please...the world is your audience.
