A Message For All Bumiputeras
Taking Care of Numero Uno
Recent events show that the government cannot take care of all its citizens but mostly those with good connections.
So I am writing this to advise young Bumiputeras on how to take care of your own future, unless you have a fairy godmother somewhere. I would prefer to write this in Bahasa but pardon me, my competence in that language can only be described as "bazaar Bahasa".
First of all, there is no substitute for work. There is a popular saying, "Easy come, easy go." If you work hard for your success, it is very difficult for anyone to take it away from you.
If you want to succeed in life, you not only need to work hard but you also need to have good leadership and communication skills.
If you want to venture overseas, you need to communicate with your business partners and if you can do so in their language, you have a distinct advantage over a competitor who uses a translator.
One organisation that can help your leadership and communication skills is ToastMasters International. You can locate one near you here.
Last year my club organised a Youth Leadership Program over 5 evenings for 25 youths aged 14 years to 18 years and we charged RM250. Sad to say, we had only 2 bumiputera participants.
Perhaps Bumiputera parents believe that the government will take care of all their future needs and they prefer to spend that RM250 on household items to make their house more beautiful.
To all parents I say that you need to invest in your children’s future. At the end of that program, it was satisfying to hear the parents’ comments.
"I’ve been looking all over town for such a program."
"You should organise this every month."
Just contact any club and they will be happy to help you.
Some clubs charge to attend their meetings but it will cost no more than a cinema ticket.
Good luck on the road to taking care of your-self.
You have the Power to Change!

Salute thee for thy views and efforts to help the YoungOnes -- I hope the Bumiputeras (and parents too) heed your message.
Yes, I endorse your view that anything that's gotten on a silver platter soon disappears. Nothing like fruits gotten thru hard labou and diligent perseverance -- we truly treasure.
