Changing the Malay Mindset?
Has any scientific study been really conducted that proves the Malay is somehow backward and cannot compete with the other races?
Somehow this concept appears ludicrous when only this year we read about a Malay girl who created history by scoring an indecent number of As in an important government exam.
Perhaps the Malay mindset has been conditioned or brain-washed by too many leaders always telling them that they are weak and cannot compete on a level playing field. Maybe the so-called national leaders know that by brainwashing the population, they can rise to power or remain in power.
Today we find Malays in all sectors of the economy and some of them are so good they even feel that policies like the NEP somehow detract from their own abilities. In case you do not know it, some of the top heart specialists are Malays.
Maybe those ultra leaders should change the message that has been playing for too long and is no longer relevant.
I would give a message to all Malaysians on the following lines.
“The government has provided many opportunities to all Malaysians to succeed. But you must grab these opportunities and improve your own skills by working hard and learning more. Your success is determined by your own efforts.
We will provide a good environment for business and entrepreneurs but we cannot guarantee your success. The nation needs all the talents we can develop to compete in the global economy and we will provide the means so that all Malaysians can study to the highest level possible.”
Malaysians cannot support leaders who are capable of only threatening gestures
