A Case of Shoddy Maintenance.
I have visited a few out of town parks in Australia, NZ and the United States of America and one thing that never fails to impress me is that public facilities like toilets and washing areas are reasonably clean and working. And the buildings in some of these places can be rather old.
So it is quite a shock to learn that Johor Baru spent RM8 million on the Hutan Bandar project in 1991 and now it is in disrepair. For one the project cost looks rather high as there is little sophistication in the design and now the whole place appears to be a mess.
There appears to be a lack of supervision by the local authorities as based on the report, the stall holders have to clean the toilets. No wonder the place has become run down!
One would have thought the local authorities would collect rental from all the stalls and even collect perhaps RM1 per car per entry so that some funds can be collected to ensure the place is well maintained.
It appears that no one is interested in maintenance once the glamour(or profits) of the project has passed.

Haven't been to KLIA for a few years. Is it really that bad now?
