On Guard!
No this is not a challenge to a duel but there is an interesting news report about a car thief who stole away while under guard at a hospital ward.
It seems that arrested car thieves are treated with more kid gloves than women who are arrested for exciting dressing.
The man was warded for injuries sustained in a car chase but was able to escape while under the guard of two policemen.
Iām not sure if the man was hand-cuffed to the bed to prevent escape ā that seems to be important unless his injuries would cause undue suffering. Wonder what is the police SOP on this. To me, if the hands are injured, it would be important to secure the leg instead.
I also find it wasteful to assign two policemen for this duty ā one would be sufficient and this person would accompany the person to the toilet etc.
The other person would be more appropriately deployed catching more criminals.
For hard criminals who may be subject to attack by outsiders, the arrested person should be treated in a prison hospital.
