Malaysia's New Version of “Put Your Foot in Your Mouth”
Before the use of English was relegated to the boondocks with the previous education systems, we learned that this phrase meant that you made a big blunder.
Looking at high ill conceived the Johor Bridge, it would be appropriate for Malaysia to contribute a new phrase to the English language.
Putting one’s foot in the mouth is unsightly and also rather unhygienic especially with bird flu and HFMD prevalent.
So let us consider a new phrase like,
“Putting a half bridge into one’s mouth.”
If we look at the rhetoric and all the statements on public record for the past five years, it shows how basic arrogance made the authorities blind to their limitations.
They wanted Singapore to agree to replace the Causeway with a multi-billion ringgit bridge that would have some implications on that important port. Singapore decided that they would not accept the project unless they could get other tradeoffs.
Now after protracted negotiations, Malaysia has decided that they cannot accept those demands and simply walked away from the table. Singapore has been too tough for our negotiators and the talk now is that we would have compromised national security over some sand.
Of course the authorities have been able to bully the meek and mild majority of Malaysian citizens who have been subjected to all kinds of limitations on their freedom.
So before we allow the authorities to make such strategic mistakes of monumental proportions, we must rein in the powers we have given them.
We need to have more humble people in government that fully realise that their power stems from the mandate we give them and nothing else.

So well said HJ!
These politicians have screwed up our education system so thoroughly that they now have the audacity to think that we are ALL fools ready to swallow every single crap they dish out to cover their blundering tracks.
Yes, it is still sad that we have 92% of our population blind followers/believers of the sick system BUT they ignore the other 8% of not so gullible rakyat at their own peril.
