Waiting for the AG or the SG?
We seem to be taking an inordinate delay to get action taken based on the findings of the Royal Commission on the not so royal Police.
Now the latest news is that a general commission is to be created to tackle all complaints in all departments as suggested in my blog of October 9, 2005. This was not an original idea and some Malaysians suggested the ombudsman idea many years back.
I had also written how such a body may reduce some of the misgivings the police may have over the IPCMC.
While the news on an ombudsman body may be good, it would be better if they had announced on the timeline of such a body. Already the IPCMC is long overdue but the AG is presumably now drawing laws for a larger body.
One hopes that he is not consulting the Surgeon General* on how to make the Malaysian ombudsman both toothless and legless as per SUHAKAM.
Or is the AG’s office having problems translating all the UK or HK documents into Bahasa?
Meanwhile any other items outstanding on the Royal Commission should be implemented asap or the MPs should be briefed on the progress.
So far we have not heard on the Spielberg wannabe who used his camera in the nude incident.
