Should Doctors be Allowed to Play God?

It seems that some doctors are governed by only two considerations – technology and money. They are totally devoid of morality.

Now you can go to a nearby laboratory and get a designer baby of your choice – male or female – tests can determine the gender.

In order for this technology to succeed they require to produce many embryos in order to select the appropriate one to meet your specifications.

The rest are frozen or destroyed according to the choice of the parents. When did Malaysia become a nation where people like doctors and parents can become partners in destroying life based on such criteria?

What’s next? Soon tests will be developed that can predict the intelligence potential of your baby and only future geniuses will be allowed to develop.

According to the latest news on the BBC, they can now analyze DNA to discover genetic disorders earlier so those parents can have the choice to terminate the pregnancy.

Instead of giving society the chance to be generous and caring for disabled persons and that is what makes the human character, we are moving towards a society that is selfish and demanding with little care for others.

Soon we will live in a perfect world; somewhat like the movie “The Stepford Wives.” People like this famous scientist would probably have been terminated in the test-tube.

To conclude such technology should only be allowed under very strict guidelines and no embryos should be destroyed. It would be preferable to donate these to other childless couples who cannot afford the treatment.
