I think the PM is handling the criticism of his ex-boss with some grace.
The swiftness with which the course on Ethnic Relations was withdrawn is also commendable but perhaps it would have been better if some oversight had been in place for sensitive issues.
Most people are a little disappointed that he has moved so slowly to solve our major concerns but I believe we should at least let him finish what he set out to do.
The 9MP appears to be more transparent with the promise of open tenders so let us see what happens.
Our previous fiscal policy was to simply spend on mega-projects some of dubious reasoning like the Crooked Bridge and it is now like having to start a healthy diet after being fed many sumptious buffets where much food was wasted and not everyone was invited.
I think a government has to budget like an ordinary household - it needs to have a balanced budget or future generations will suffer.
Of course the USA is a bad example but their day of reckoning is delayed because foreigners buy US currency for various reasons.
But Malaysia? We can become the basket-case of Asean if we are not prudent.
As for not being the first choice, that often happens in real life so there must have been strong resistance to the ex-PM's first choice anyway.
