Have You Done Money Laundering?
The other day there was a conference on Money Laundering and how terrorists move their monies around.
It got my brain thinking that credit cards can be used to transfer money overseas if you have a willing merchant you could trust. I understand that during the time of exchange controls in Malaysia, people used to buy casino trips that included chips for the gambling tables. Take a quick trip abroad, cash in your chips and then pay your credit card bill.
Sounds familiar? Well, Malaysians are towering gamblers. We throw everything to the winds. After all, the courts at home protect us from any judgements. That’s a comforting thought.
How did my own experience go? Well, the money really comes out clean and it’s hard to trace its history. You want to do it yourself?
Here’s how.
First of all, you need a forgetful teenage son or daughter who is quite careless. Then you program the equipment. The final step is to switch on the washing machine. Any ringgit notes left in pockets will come out nice and clean.
US bills need careful attention as the size and colour is the same for all(?) denominations. Double check the note or you may give a $100 note for a $1 bill!
