Of Grave Concern
It was reported in today's Star that 380 graves were discovered at Pedu Lake as the water level there is now very low.
According to the news item, it will cost RM2000 for each grave to be exhumed, transported and the remains reburied.
My calculator tells me that 380 x 2000 = RM760,000
but the acting Mentri Besar says about RM1.5million has been set aside for the exercise.
With this kind of budgetting, it appears the fellow needs more lessons in estimating.
The other concern is before any dam is constructed, a proper survey is required and not discovering 380 graves is a serious omission. 40 years ago was before the era of privatisation and it would appear the JKR is responsible for this.
Including a burial ground under a dam that provides drinking water is a really serious matter. We should get to the bottom of this and find out if any of the culprits are still around

Sorry lah.
Forgot all the miscellaneous stuff like that and also fireworks!
Do you think someone got paid off so as not to have to exhume all those graves. Maybe RM100 kopi money for each can get RM38000.
Quite big money then can buy one big house or a few acres.
Clearly indicates poor planning, survey, etc. Wonder if any lost cities, treasures are submerged at our dams. We may never know I guess.
