Would You Mind Terribly if....
Apologies to the English purists for the heading.
The government has taken positive steps to reduce the burden of rising prices and the main concessions are
No fuel increases in the near future
No toll increases until 2007
Road tax reduction for smaller vehicles
Now supposing we had a crazy government and they introduced this scheme
No fuel increases in the near future except for non-Bumis
No toll increases until 2007 except for non-Bumis
Road tax reduction for smaller vehicles except for non-Bumis
Are you mad? Some of you will ask.
Well this is precisely the scheme we have in the housing discounts that all developers have to provide for Bumis.
It does not matter whether the person is buying his first house or his twentieth bungalow. This has been enforced during the NEP and the discount can range from 5% upwards.
Obviously the developer has to cover the loss of profit from the sales to the others.
Suppose a bungalow sells for RM1 million and the discount is 10% or RM100,000 that is recovered from 100 buyers of terrace houses selling for RM150,000.
Thus we have a situation where the poorer are being fleeced to pander to the rich.
It would be interesting to get the details on how many millionaires have purchased discounted housing.
