A Lousy Game of Football in Malaysia
Once upon a time, two teams used to play football and Team A always scored more goals than Team B.
Team B got fed up and appealed to the Football Association. Strangely enough the authorities decided to change the rules of the game so that Team B would enjoy a handicap.
Team A agreed to the changes as the players felt that it would be more fun if the teams were more balanced and they accepted to play 100 games with the special rules.
Among the rules they changed were:
Team B’s goal post was reduced by width and height by 30% so that Team A had more difficulty to score goals.
Team B players were given special training stints and even sent overseas to train with famous clubs like Manchester United.
They even allowed Team B to bring in qualified foreigners with no limit to substitute players.
Even the referee and linesmen were not partial. They always gave Team B the benefit of the doubt. Even when players were offside, the whistle was never blown against them.
But all this did not affect the end results.
Team A worked doubly hard and made more sacrifices so that they could dribble, tackle and score scores with great efficiency.
Team B players were not really serious about working hard. Instead of training overseas, they spent the time carousing with the local lasses(warning rated MA) and the managers even spent time in other decadent pursuits like drinking and gambling.
The season has just ended and Team A is the undisputed champion. I hear the Football Association is requesting to reduce the goalpost again for another round of the NEP Championship.
