The Power of Women
One hears many complaints about how bad our education system has become but one thing is certain - we did the right thing by providing education for both sexes and the women are now coming into their own.
Twenty years ago, we had few women in the work force and the attitude before was that girls would get married and leave the work force and thus it was not necessary to train them too much.
Today just go into most large organisations like banks, airlines and government departments and you find that women are doing most of the work.
In fact many women in Malaysia have risen to the top. Some men don't like women on top (except for sex) but the reality is that women are just as capable as men - in fact they have to prove to their male bosses that they are even more capable than their male colleagues before they get promoted.
Just look at the university intake numbers - the figures are staggering. Women make up more than 50% of the overall student population and even in tough courses like Engineering and Medicine, they have been some top students.
So what is the future of the men in Malaysia?
Guys you are an endangered species. Many women now prefer to remain single as girls want to have fun. Some of you will not even become fathers as it is possible to have a child without your involvement.
This is a social revolution of sorts. The guys are opting for softer options like the sabre-rattling politicians while the gals are carving out solid careers in banking, medicine and engineering.
I expect we could have a woman Prime Minister in Malaysia within the next 20 years. Maybe that would be a good change for the country.
