The Greatest Scam in the World

I wrote this some months ago and with the 9MP coming up, it is time for some reflection.


There once was a country fair
With abundant wealth for all to share
But the politicos usurped all the powers to own
Absolute power to corrupt even those in black gowns.

There once were jungles green
With various plants to keep the air clean
But the state councils cleared the verdant lands
Our once crystal waters are muddied by their hands.

There once was a policy to help the poor
With various grants to heal the rancor
But after 35 years the rich get richer still
While the poor barely get a belly’s fill.

The diverse races are full of distrust
Harmony is quite a thing of the past
The ruling elite has it all their own way
While the people struggle to see the light of day.

The education system went down the drain
As teachers coped with a system of no pain
Most parents abandoned their offspring to a maid
The government promised all their needs would be paid.

From the cradle to the grave a special race was pampered
With special schools progress in education was unhampered
Until the products could not find a place in the market
An unmitigated disaster this case of the basket.

Major projects punch the skyline through private deals
As private pockets are lined with copulatory* zeal
Though buildings collapse, a loud chorus is heard
“Malaysia Boleh” another Guinness record is cheered.

Local councils became dens of thieves
With discarded leaders raiding the tills
To vie for projects never our citizens to gain
But to live forever with the pain.

Citizens of Malaysia come fight the cause
Against evil corruption we cannot pause
Embattled leader’s call to corruption we must end
With actions, bold and steadfast our nation we defend


*A coined up word, derived from copulation
