Demon Drivers
Since this is the time of the Hungry Ghosts, I thought it would be appropriate to include this.(Written and published by AAM in 1983 but message is still relevant)
Don’t drive in Malaysian roads
Unless your heart can stand an overload
For thousands have been licensed to kill
By their utter lack of driving skills
Don’t overtake even if you’re right
Unless you’re willing to die of fright
Double lines are crossed with impunity
As the demon driver flirts with the deity
What’s that blocking the road?
Good grief! A lorry sick with overload
Slam your brakes and hope to miss
A tragic demise the stats to list
Don’t expect the traffic cops to care
They have more to handle than their share
Directing traffic against the lights
Small wonder no one bothers with right
Don’t place your hopes in a mini-bus
Only commandos can survive the crush
Of humans packed in a speeding trap
Kamikaze! The Highway Code’s a load of crap
Stay home when it rains
For roads turn into drains
Hydrofoils and aqua-jets become the norm
As drivers speed in the blinding storm
Close encounters of the third kind
Our demon bikers you will find
Weaving patterns across the traffic flow
When they’ll be curbed only the police know
It’s not even safe to be a pedestrian
Unless you’re somewhat equestrian
Swift and nimble-footed the battle wages
Better stay home – use the Yellow Pages.
